McDonald’s Has a Brand New Burger That’s Almost Twice the Size of a Big Mac

Despite many attempts, very few fast-food restaurants have been able to produce a burger that can rival the famous double-decker design that people have loved for decades. You are right, of course; the Big Mac is in question here.

The Big Mac, which has been McDonald’s most famous burger since its debut in 1967, comprises “two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun.” However, a fierce new opponent will enter the ring straight from McDonald’s.

At last, if anyone can surpass McDonald’s, it’s them.

Last week, McDonald’s launches the Big Arch, a new burger. This new product is the largest currently available on the menu, promising more flavour than ever, so fans are advised to bring their most excellent appetites to the counter.

With two quarter-pound, 100% beef patties, this double-decker burger is meant to “satisfy the extra hungry.” The Big Arch, weighing in at a whopping 14 ounces, nearly doubles the size of the traditional Big Mac, which has an approximate weight of 7.6 ounces. This burger could replace the Big Mac for lunch.

The Double Big Mac, which returned to the menu earlier this year, may be more impressive than the Big Arch, but for now, the Big Arch is the undisputed king of regular double-patty sandwiches.

Apart from the oversized patties, some other significant distinctions exist between the Arch and the Mac. The new burger has three slices of white processed cheese instead of the standard one slice of yellow UK cheese featured on the original. Additionally, it has two kinds of onions—crispy and slivered—instead of the rehydrated variety typically seen on sandwiches.

Since the Big Arch burger could not be covered with Big Mac sauce, a fresh, tart sauce was developed especially for it. Concerning the bun, what about it? In addition to the regular sesame bun, McDonald’s upgraded to include poppy seeds.

This burger sounds even better than the classic burger with its crunchy onions, spicy sauce, and extra-beefy patties. Fans already refer to it as their “new fave.”

But before you get too carried away daydreaming about this burger, be aware that it’s now limited to two international markets: Portugal and Canada. Nevertheless, the trials conducted in these areas are encouraging, and enthusiasts are already pleading for a broader release.

Now, all that extra beef does come with a price tag. The Big Arch sells for CAD 9.99, around USD 7.37—over $2 more than a Big Mac. But with almost 50% more meat, that extra couple of bucks seems worth it.

While there’s no official word yet on when (or if) the Big Arch will make its way to U.S. menus, we’re hopeful that a successful run in Canada will bring this mega burger stateside. After all, McDonald’s has a knack for turning international favourites into American hits.

The Big Arch Burger is McDonald’s latest addition to its menu, offering a giant patty with unique toppings, distinct from the Big Mac.

The Big Arch Burger features a premium beef patty, special Arch sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun.

The Big Arch Burger focuses on a giant patty and a sauce different from Big Mac’s signature two-patty structure and Big Mac sauce.

McDonald’s has introduced the Big Arch Burger, aiming to offer a heartier and more premium alternative to its classic Big Mac. With a giant beef patty, unique sauce, and distinct toppings, it caters to those looking for a more prominent, bolder flavour. Fans should try it as soon as it rolls out nationwide.
